LEARNING - Pursuit Program

Our Pursuit Program offers extension classess which are for students from Year 3 to 6.

Our year began with a series of Mathematics problem solving lessons and the entering of two teams in the Have Sum Fun Competition run by the Mathematical Association of WA. Both teams made creditable progrss in solbing the quiz style tasks. Our bes mathematicians also had the opportunity to compete in the Australian Mathematics Competition.

We entered the Make Your Own Storybook Competition last year, which is organised by the Children's Book Council of WA, and were thrilled when Amy Hunt took third place with her delightful tale of Mike the Missing Marron.

In all, fifteen completed books were make available in the school library and were greatly enjoyed by our students!

Engquest, run by Engineers Australia, challenged us to create our own marshmallow catapults from recycled items in Term Three.

Our budding engineers took on the task using considerable ingenuity. Sandbagging soved the problem of securing the bass, while falling rocks, elastic bands and bent twigs were some of the catalysts for propelling our marshmallows through the air!

Students are offered the opportunity to be involved in several motivating competitions throughout the year.

These include:

Oz Kids in Print

What an outstanding accomplishment for Marley Bassett, in having her literary work published in the OZ Kids in Print magazine, February 2017 issue.
